Alfred Henry was born in Northchurch in 1895, the youngest son of William Dwight and Mary Halsey, He had 2 older brothers and an older sister.
By 1911 he was living with his Father (his mother had died in 1901) at his brother-in-laws home in Berkhamsted and working as an Errand Boy.
He was formerly employed as a teacher at Gossoms End Sunday School.
Wartime Service
Enlisted in the Hertfordshire Regiment as Private 266960 later transferring to 11th battalion Essex regiment as Private 202817.
He was wounded 30 Aug 1917 and died on 4 Sep 1917 at Etaples Military Hospital.
