Pre War

Born in 1866 in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire son of Alfred and Phoebe Hipathite. He was a dairyman. He emigrated to Australia, married Mary Alice Darlington on 23 Jul 1892 in Queensland and lived in Yandaran, Bundaberg, Queensland with two daughters.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Brisbane, Australia on 21 Mar 1916, (age claimed to be 43) embarked at Brisbane on 8 Aug 1916 and arrived at Plymouth on 18 Oct 1916. After training he entered France via Folkestone on 12 Dec 1916 and joined his battalion on 19 Jan 1917 at Etaples. He was wounded in the face on 11 Apr 1917 and returned to his duties on 6 May 1917 after treatment in hospital. He was again wounded on 11 Jun 1917 by gunshot wounds to the chest and back and was admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Wimereux. He died of his wounds.
