Pre War
Born in Hornsey, Middlesex in 1885. In the 1901 census he was a gardener living in Quaker’s Lane, Potters Bar with his parents Robert and Margaret Redding and siblings. Enlisted at Hornsey, London 2 March 1905 and recorded as in India with the 1st Battalion in the 1911 census. Wartime Srvice: Landed at Boulogne, France, 14 August 1914. Died of wounds 23 October 1914. Probably wounded during the Battle of Mons or the following actions prior to the First Battle of Ypres – and then repatriated to the 2nd London General Hospital located in St Mark’s College at 552 King’s Road, Chelsea..
