Ambrose was born 1898 in St Kilda, Melbourne Australia to Ambrose Brown and Susan Elizabeth (nee Fletcher).
He was registered at birth as Ambrose Alfred Fetcher Brown. He had two younger brothers William Richard and Sydney Melbourne, both were born in Northchurch, Herts. He was formerly employed at the West End Brushworks
Wartime Service
Ambrose joined 2nd battalion Queens (Royal West Surrey) regiment as Private G/13274.
He was killed in action by machine gun fire in France on 2 Apr 1917

His father, Mr. A. Brown, 44 Northfield Rd., Coventry, ordered his headstone inscription: "THAT WHETHER WE WAKE OR SLEEP WE SHOULD LIVE TOGETHER WITH HIM". War Gratuity of £3 and arrears of £4 9s 2d paid to mother
