Son of William and Emily (nee MORRIS) HART; husband of Elizabeth Emily (nee WHEELER) HART.
His parents married 1875 in the Dudley, Staffs, district. William died 1917 aged 62; Emily died 1929 aged 75; both in the Watford district.
William was born 24 August 1889 in Watford, and baptised 20 September 1889 at St Matthew’s, Oxhey, Herts. He married 1913 in the Watford district; they had two children. Elizabeth remarried 1928 in the Watford district to Sidney GARTON, and died 15 February 1986 in Watford aged 99.
On the 1891 Census, aged 1 he lived in Oxhey, with his parents and five siblings. On the 1901 Census, aged 11 he still lived in Oxhey, with his parents and four siblings. On the 1911 Census, a carman aged 21 he was a boarder in Watford.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Watford; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 17 March 1915, and was killed or died of wounds received in action.
Additional Information
There is an In Memoriam for William in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 27 July 1918.
His brother Frederick died 25 November 1917 and also features on Watford Borough Roll of Honour.
Unfortunately, William’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
