Biography

Archibald Turney was born in May 1900 at Bedmond. He was one of six children (three sons and three daughters) born to James and Susan Turney. At the time of the 1901 and 1911 Census James was employed as a Wheelwright, and the family was recorded living at Bedmond. In the 1911 Census Archibald was listed “Archie”.

Archibald was first listed in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in June 1918 serving with a Training Battalion. At some point later in 1918 he was transferred to the Bedfordshire Regiment, and was recorded with that unit in the final Roll of Honour listing in December 1918.
