Pre War

Born Offley Enlisted Hitchin. Already serving at commencement of war he had served in India for three years. 


His home address Garden Fields, Offley. He left a wife, Mrs S. Dyer, and three children. 

Wartime Service

Frederick was involved in the retreat from Mons. He had been in several engagements and on one occasion had part of his cap badge shot away


He was presumed killed in action on 9th May 1915, but he had been missing for some time and in fact his body was not found.


He was 32 years of age and the first soldier from Offley to be killed.
