Pre War
George was born in Aldbury, Herts., on 6 Apr 1891 (baptised Albury 14 Jun 1891) to William Eden, and Maria (nee Puddiphat).
On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Elisabeth (born 1886) and George were living at Railway Cottages, Tring.
On the 1911 census, George was a domestic gardener and living with his family of parents and Elisabeth (dressmaker) at 12 Railway Cottages, Tring.
Wartime Service
No Service record was found for George. He enlisted in 6th (Service) Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment as Private 12618, in early 1915. the Battalion was part of 112th Brigade, 37th Division. George went to France with this Division on 30 Jul 1915. The Division was deployed to the Somme Sector where George was wounded (possibly due the daily attrition of troops in the front line) and although evacuated through the casualty chain to 24 General Hospital at Etaples he died of his wounds on 19th Jul 1916 and was interred in Etaples Military Cemetery.
He is also remembered on his Grandfather George Puddephat's memorial in Aldbury graveyard.
