Born on 3 Nov 1897 in Hatfield, Herts. son of Walter James and Emily Jane (Messenger) Totman and baptised in North Mimms on 30 Jan 1898. He was living in Bakers Farm, Redbourn in 1901 and in 1911. He worked for the Herts. Steam Roller Company.

Address given as Shafford Cottages, St Albans.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Watford, Herts. in Apr 1917 and entered France in Sep 1917. He died in a dressing station shortly after being hit in the stomach by a bullet.
