Born in Hornsey on 5 Jun 1886, the son of Albert Edward and Sarah Jane Elvidge.


The 1901 Census records him living at 46 Gloucester Road, Stoke Newington with parents and siblings. In Jun 1903 he started work with National Provincial Bank of England, where he remained until he left for military service. The 1911 electoral Rolls record him living at 46 Gloucester Road and paying father 10s per week rent.


Medical records indicate that he reported for enlistment of 18 Dec 1916 and was shown as 10353 Private Inns of Court OTC (Officer Training Corps).

19 Aug 1917 gazetted 2Lt to the West Yorkshire Regiment.


KIA 17 Nov 1917, just 2 months after joining Regiment.

His father was resident in Hadley Wood, but from other records it appears that his home address was Grafton House 159 Queens Road, Finsbury Park. His will was Probated and his estate of £1259 6s 4d, which included back pay and gratuities of £70 2s 9d was handed to the Public Trustee.
