Reginald (Reggie) George TURNEY was born on 12th November 1899, in Aldbury, Hertfordshire, son of Henry George Turney a Farm Cowman and Eliza Turney (nee Scott). One of their eight children although two died in infancy. His parents married on 6th October 1897, in Aldbury, Herts.
He was Baptised on 7th January 1900, in the Parish of Aldbury, Herts.
1901 Census records Reginald aged 1, living with his parents, half-brother Albert Sidney Scott (7), sister Doris 2 months, in Aldbury, Herts. They had two boarders, widower Henry Clarke and his son Walter Clarke (6).
1911 Census records Reginald aged 11, at school, living with his parents, four sisters and brother Sydney (6) in Aldbury, Herts.
Wartime Service
Reginald travelled to the County Town of Hertford to enlist, posted to the Norfolk Regiment with the service No. 36740. On completion of his training, he was sent to France, seeing action on the Western Front. He died on the 18th October 1918, aged 19, of wounds received in action, in one of the many Hospital in and around Rouen, France. He is buried in St Server Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. Additional Information
His mother Eliza received a Dependents Pension on 5/- a week from 22nd April 1919, her address was recorded as No. 2 Trooper Road, Aldbury, Herts. She also received his effects of £7-18s-01d, pay owing and his war gratuity of £3.
