Born on 3 Feb 1889 in Dover, Kent son of Col Montague and Mrs. Florence Geraldine Fawkes of 74 North Road, Hythe, Kent, England and baptised on 21 Apr 1889 in Dover. Educated at Haileybury College 1903-06. He was a surveyor in Canada.

Wartime Service

At the outbreak of thewar, he enrolled on 7 Nov 1914 in Victoria, British Colombia, Canada for the Canadian Expeditionary Force and entered France. The Canadian regiments were heavily involved in the many and fiercely fought battles around Ypres. He was reported missing believed killed in Battle of Mount Sorrel, close to Ypres.
