Charles Frederick Fearn was born in 1896 in Chile, South America, the son of Charles and Emily Fearn. His father was a nitrate manufacturer. 


On the 1911 Census his parents were living in Cuckfield, Sussex but he was away at school at Malvern College, in Great Malvern, Worcestershire, which he attended from 1911 to 1914. 


Wartime Service

He enlisted into the Inniskilling Fusiliers and served as a 2nd Lieutenant in France from 14 May 1915.


He was attached to the Munster Fusiliers and was killed in action on 4 July 1915, age 19. 

Additional Information

His father, Mr Charles Fearn, Speen Manor, Newbury, Berks. ordered his headstone inscription: "AGE 19", Charles received his pay owing of £42 5s 1d.
