He had already enlisted at Hertford by 1911 and was at Aldershot. He entered France on 16 Aug 1914 and was killed in action.

Brother of Driver Harry Fitkin who died in 1918 in Greece and of Driver Frederick Charles Fitkin who died in Palestine in 1918 and who are also commemorated on these memorials.
