Born 1880 in Staines Green, Hertingfordbury son of John and Elizabeth (nee Walkling) Fordham and was baptised 2 May 1880.


Living in Staines Green, Hertingfordbury as a bootmaker with his mother and sister Ellen. He married Jemima Allen on 17 Mar 1917. At some time lived in Ivy Passage, West Street, Hertford.

Additional Information

Joseph is also commemorated on his parent's headstone in Hertingfordbury (St. Mary) Churchyard. His part of the inscription reads:

JOSEPH THE BELOVED HUSBAND OF J. FORDHAM,
OF THE YORK AND LANCSTER REGIMENT, KILLED IN ACTION, FRANCE. OCTOBER 14TH. 1917, AGED 37 YEARS

GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.
