He was born on the 8th September 1897, in Essendon, Herts. Son of Edward and Agnes Fowler. Baptised on the 3rd October 1897, in Essendon, Herts.

Norris was one of 4 children. He was a resident of Waltham Abbey, Essex. The 1901 census shows Norris aged 3 living with his Parents, Brother and Sister at 9 Franchise Place, Waltham Abbey, Essex and the 1911 census shows Norris aged 13 living with his widowed Mother, 2 Brothers and Sister, at 9 Franchise Place, Waltham Abbey, Essex.

Wartime Service

Norris enlisted at Waltham Cross, Herts, into the 1st Battalion, Hertfordshire Regiment, with the service number 266727.

He was Killed in Action on 23rd September 1917. He has no Known Grave.

Additional Information

His personal inscription on the headstone reads: “Son of Mrs A. H. Fowler of 9 Paradise Row, Waltham Abbey, Essex”.
