Pre War

Ivan Noble Gair was born in Brisbane, Queensland, the son of  John and Charlotte Gair. 


He was a dentist and gave his next of kin as John Reid Gair (his father), Supreme Court, Rockhampton, Queensland. 

Wartime Service

He enlisted on 2 June 1915 in Brisbane as CSM in 31st Battalion, 'A' Company. 


His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A62 Wandilla on 9 November 1915. He was in action in Egypt and the Western Front and was commissioned as a Lieutenant. He died of wounds on 30 September 1918.  

Additional Information

His father, Mr J R Gair, Supreme Court, Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, ordered his headstone inscription: "LOVED AND ONLY SON OF J.R. & M. GAIR OF ROCKHAMPTON, QUEENSLAND".
