Pre War

Born December 1897 and baptised in Weston on 5 February 1898. Son of William and Mary Ann Game of Church End, Weston. 1911 Census: living with family at Maiden Street, Weston, and a schoolboy.

Wartime Service

The 1st/5th Bedfords were in the Egyptian Expeditionary Force and were camped at Pinewoods, Beirut, Palestine. They spent time training and drilling, bayonet practice etc. and were under orders to respond to civil unrest. No action took place in December, but the war diaries mention an outbreak of influenza, from which he died.

Additional Information

War gratuity of £25 awarded to father William. Although registered as Lionel Harold, he seems to have been baptised just as Harold and is listed as such on the Censuses. He is listed as H Game on the Weston Memorial.
