Born on 15 Oct 1893 Redland, Bristol and baptised on 22 Nov 1900 at Westbury-on-Trym, Gloucestershire son of Walter Hookway and Emily Gange later of 7 Muller Avenue, Ashley Down, Bristol. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1902-08.

Wartime Service

Enlisted formerly Private 2806, Gloucestershire Regiment and entered France on 31 Mar 1915. He served at Armentieres, Ploegsteert and on the Somme in 1916 as battalion H.Q. runner and was promoted to Lance Corporal. He obtained a commission as 2nd Lieutenant Royal Flying Corps on 10 Jan 1918 and was killed in a flying accident at Narborough, Norfolk when his engine failed.
