Biography

Leonard Gardner was listed for the first time in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in July 1916. At this point he was identified as Discharged, but no explanation was given. He continued to be recorded in the Roll of Honour at various points throughout the course of the War, however no other details were given, other than his name.

Leonard was one of two sons born to Richard and Elizabeth Gardner. He was born in 1896 at Peckham. His father was employed as a Draughtsman and in the 1911 Census the family were recorded living at “Hazelmere”, Abbots Road, Abbots Langley.

Leonard Gardner survived the War.
