Census: 1901 Census living at Black House, Stapylton Road, Barnet with parents and 1911 Census living at Logans, Blenheim Road, Barnet with parents.

Wartime Service

He was Gazetted to Second Leiutenant on probation on 7 Jun 1915  and confirmed to the rank on the 28 Jan 1916.


Gazetted 2 Mar 1917  for award of Military Cross. His citation read:


"For Conspicuous gallantry in action. He displayed great courage and ability in re-organising his company and in consolidating the position under heavy fire. He set a fine example to his men."
