Dennis was born in 1897 in Mangrove House, Hertford son of Albert Stacey and Ethel Hoole Gilbertson later of 62 Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone. Educated at Wellington College.

Wartime Service

Gazetted 2nd Lieut Northamptonshire Regiment. Transferred to the Royal Flying Corps., later the Royal Air Force.


A brief article in the Hertfordshire Express on 21st of September 1918 reports that his father has received notice that Dennis was reported missing on 4th of September. "He was one of a patrol which encountered a large enemy formation, and engaged superior numbers." 


He was killed in France.
