Frederick Charles Goble was born 188296 to John Goble, farrier, and Frances (nee Cheeseman).
On the 1891 Census the family of parents, Albert (born 1880), Arthur (born 1879), Frederick, Isabel (born 1884), Percy (born 1888) Jack (born 1891) together with boarder Thomas Harding (born 1869) were living at 110, Conway Street, Hove, Sussex.
On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Albert, Arthur, Frederick, Percy, Jack, Florence (born 1894) and Alec V Born 1898 were living at 7, Rock Place, Brighton, Sussex.
Frederick married Ethel Louise King at St Saviour’s Church, Preston, Sussex on 22 Feb 1908.
On the 1911 census Frederick, a bookbinder, and Ethel were living at 86, Castle Street, Boston, Lincs.
His connection to Letchworth was not found but may have been through his bookbinder experience.
Wartime Service
No Service record was found for Frederick who was enlisted in the Bedfordshire Regiment as Private 31670 (or 31607 in some records.).
He went to France joining 7th Battalion of the regiment who were part of 54 Brigade 18 (Eastern) Division. In 1917 the Division were taking part in following up of the German retreat to the Hindenburg Line (14 Mar – 5 Apr 1917). Frederick was killed in this action on 15 Mar 1917.
Additional Information
War Gratuity of £3 and arreaers of £2 4s 6d was paid to his widow.
