Born on 13 Aug 1886 in Merton, Surrey son of Arthur William and Edith (Cheere) Stileman. Educated at Haileybury College 1900-05.

Wartime Service

Initially enrolled as Private 2085 the Honourable Artillery Company. Obtained a commission in the Gloucestershire Regiment. Killed in action at the Somme.
