Pre War

Charles was born in 1893 to Thomas and Fanny. He was baptised on 30 July 1893. In 1901 he was living at 56 Lilley. His father was a farm labourer and his mother sewed straw hats. Charles also had two sisters, Bertha and Rose. In 1911 the family lived at Saunders Yard and Charles was a farm labourer. 

Wartime Service

He joined in January 1916 and was drafted to France the following year. He was engaged in fighting in many important sectors and was killed in action at Arras.
