Son of John and Dorcas (nee SANDERS) GOODYER of Watford.

His parents married 1 May 1882 at the Parish Church, Bulkington, Warks.  John died 29 August 1932 in Watford aged 73, and was buried 2 September in North Watford Cemetery; Dorcas died 1939 in Watford aged 80, and was buried 27 December, also in North Watford Cemetery.

Albert was born 22 November 1897 in Coventry, Warks, and baptised 15 December 1897 at St Thomas’, Coventry.

On the 1901 Census, aged 3 he lived in Coventry, with his parents and four siblings.  On the 1911 Census, at school aged 13, he lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Watford; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died of wounds received in action.

Additional Information

There is a brief article about and a Death announcement for Albert in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 14 July 1917; plus In Memoriams in the issues dated 22 June 1918 and 21 June 1919.

Unfortunately, Albert’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
