In 1911 he was living in Haydons Court, Railway street, Hertford and was married to Alice in 1906. She was born in Peckham in 13 September 1884 and had three children: Stephen (b 30/1/1911, Alice Rose (b 31/3/1915) and George William (b 28/5/1919).. Stephen was a labourer at a market garden.
He was born in Dublin in 1864 and has yet to be found in earlier censuses.

He died of Carcinoma of the liver and heart failure

His pension cards record Alice Maud Graham as his widow and as his next of kin, living at 4 Cherry Tree Cottages, Amwell End, Ware. It also records their children as Stephen (b 30/1/1911, Alice Rose (b 31/3/1915) and George William (b 28/5/1919). She and the children were awarded a pension of 29s 7d a week from 28 May 1919. Later the pension was increased to 50s 2d from 3 September 1919 and later her address was amended to 61 Dalston Lane, London, E8.
