Royston Town War Memorial

Pre War

Youngest son of Henry Wiggins of Royston, Hertfordshire, he was married with four children.

Wartime Service

He initially enlisted in the Bedfordshire Regiment with the Regimental Number 29767. Percy was wounded in the chest in September 1916. He was later transferred to the 26th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers and was posted to Italy. Percy died in Italy on the 12th December 1917.

Percy is also commemorated on the family headstone in Rickmansworth (Chorley Road) Cemetery. His part of the inscription reads:

ALSO OF PERCY C. WIGGINS OF THE ROYAL FUSILIERS WHO FELL IN ACTION AT THE
ITALIAN FRONT DEC 12TH 1917 AGED 33 YEARS.

"FOR EVER WITH THE LORD."
