Pre War

Harry was born in 1878 in Harpenden, youngest son of Joseph Graves, agricultural labourer, and Keziah (nee Smith). The family were living on Lower Cravells Road, Harpenden.


On the 1901 Census Harry was working in Wheathampstead as a groom. On the 1911 Census he living with his widowed mother and sister and working as a carman.

Wartime Service

Harry enlisted as Private 24153 in 12th (Service) Battalion South Wales Borderers. He died on 4 Jul 1916 while on Home service and is buried in Bristol.
