Born 1891 Weymouth Dorset, lived at 29 Chelmsford Street, Weymouth with parents Edward and Phyllis Damen and 2 brothers Walter and Victor and sister Lily. Edgar described his occupation as an outfitters porter.


In August 1911 he married Eliza Longsdail in Weymouth. At time of death his address was South Street, Stanstead Abbotts.

Wartime Service

Joined 16th Battalion, London Regt. (London Irish Rifles). Unit in 3rd Battle of Ypres April 1917. On night of April 7th his unit carried out a minor attack on enemy positions successfully but owing to a delay in withdrawing his unit came under heavy artillery fire and Edgar was killed.
