Individual plaque, St Albans Cathedral

Pre War

Horace was half brother to the above Francis Grimston and the younger son of the late Edward John Grimston and of Toonie Clara his second wife.

Wartime Service

His plaque in St Albans Abbey records that, Captain Horace Sylvester Grimston was in the 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment. 


He died on oct 21st 1914 in the defence of the trenches before Ypres  and was distinguished by his unflinching gallantry, He was aged 22 when he died.
