Pre War

Brodie Wyatt Wilson was the eldest son of Rev Herbert E Wilson and Maude nee Felton.


He was born in 1892 in The St. Pancras area of London. He had two younger brothers and a sister. He attended Aldenham School and was a graduate of Keble College Oxford being a member of University OTC.

Wartime Service

Not long after the outbreak of war, 3 Sep 1914 he joined the London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) 18th Battalion as a private and went to France 14 Nov 1915 and later with 7 Battalion from 23 Jul 1916 to 25 Oct 1916.


He was commissioned into 19th Battalion of the same Regiment on 25 April 1917 from the Officer Cadet Unit.Transferred to RAF and after training joined 20 Squadron as Observer Officer on 18 Apr 1918.He listed his Special Qualifications as Gas Officer, Photography, Knowledge of French, Air gunnery and having flown Bristol Fighters.


He was the Observer in Bristol F2b E2532 with his pilot Lieutenant J Nicholson on 23 Sep 1918 when they were listed Missing. His death was presumed later in Nov 1918.

Additional Information

His father, Rev. H. E. Wilson of Little Billing Rectory, Northampton, ordered his headstone inscription: "CHRIST IN YOU THE HOPE OF GLORY".
