Pre War

Born on 25 Jun 1880 in Powis Square, Notting Hill and baptised on 2 Aug 1880 in St Mark’s Church, Notting Hill son of Frederic Evans and Helen Elizabeth Hall. They were living in Cumberland Cottage, Redbourn, Herts. in 1911 and he was a stockbroker’s clerk.

Wartime Service

Enlisted as Private, later Corporal,1572 18th Royal Fusiliers and entered France on 14 Nov 1915. He later obtained a commission in the 1st Norfolks on 19 Mar 1916 and was killed in action.

Additional Information

Brother of Captain Humphrey Hall killed in action on 23 Nov 1915 in Iraq and who is also commemorated on this memorial.


Geoffrey is also commemorated on a memorial stone in Redbourn (St. Mary) Churchyard - similar to his brother's.  Humphrey's reads:

2ND LIEUT. 1ST NORFOLK REGIMENT
KILLED IN ACTION AND BURIED AT MAROC, FRANCE APRIL 26TH(*1) 1917. AGED 36 YEARS.
