Born 25 May 1898 and baptised on 22 Jun 1898 in Chiswick, London son of John Ewart Barnes and Maud Mary (Stokes) Wimbush later of Fair Acre, Pinner, Middlesex. Educated at Haileybury College 1912-15. He lived at 13 Pembroke Gardens, Kensington, London.

Wartime Service

Joined R.N.A.S as Flight Sub-Lieutenant on 5 Jul 1916. He obtained his flying certificate on 23 Aug 1916 at Royal Naval Air Station, Eastbourne and died of injuries in West Hertfordshire Hospital, Hemel Hempstead.
