Born in 1897 in Peshawar, Bengal, India son of Col. Fitzhardinge Wintle (87th Punjabis) and Florence Wintle later of Bamba House, Bray, Wicklow. Educated at the Imperial Service College, Windsor.

Died of wounds.

Imperial Service College was formed in Windsor in 1912 and then moved to Haileybury College, Hertford Heath in 1942.
