Pre War

Born on 2nd Dec 1888, in Muttra, India to parents Isaac and Jane Louisa.  The 1911 census shows his father, who was listed as an army pensioner, and his mother who was listed as a retired army schoolmistress, living at 27 Duncombe Road, Bengeo, Herts.  He had one brother Gerald and two sisters Vida and Eileen also living there.

Harold himself was a boarder in Newbridge, Monmouthshire and was employed as a shunter at the local tinplate works.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Canterbury.  His unit fought at the 1st Battle of Ypres beginning on 19th October and lasted until early November and it is possible that Harold was wounded during this period and died later from his wounds.
