Pre War

Born on 30 Oct 1872 in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight son of Reverend Robert Lewes and Edith Theresa Dashwood. Educated at Haileybury College 1885-91 and Pembroke College, Cambridge. Received a commission in the Northumberland Fusiliers, 3rd Bn. in 1900 and resigned on 20 Dec 1905. He married Letitia le Sueur of Cape Colony in 1907 and had four children.

Wartime Service

Rejoined his regiment on 20 Oct 1914 on the outbreak of the war. Entered France on 15 Jul 1915. Died at No 2 Bailleul Casualty Clearing Station of wounds received in action at Bailleul, France on 24 Apr 1916.
