Pre War

Edgar joined the Beds Regiment in September 1914, on the same day as his brother Horace. They went through their training together.


Another brother, Walter, joined the Staffords R.F.A. in May 1915.

Wartime Service

Edgar went out to France in July 1915, still together with Horace. 


He was wounded on the 17th of March 1916 and died three days later in a hospital in France.  He was 24 years old.

Additional Information

An article in the Hertfordshire Express (date unrecorded) mentions that Mrs Harris is widowed and living at Flint Cottage, Flamstead. It mentions the loss of two of her sons in action, with Walter serving with the Expeditionary Force in France.
