Born on 11 Mar 1896 in Westminster, London son of Ernest and Mrs. L. J. (Kirk) Young later of 4 Thornbury Road, Clapham Park, London.


Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1906-12 he then became staff clerk to the Metropolitan Asylum Board.

Wartime Service

Enlisted on 8 Sep 1914 at Walham, entered France on 17 Aug 1915 and was killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. He was shot about half way across no-man’s land in the first assault wave.
