Wartime Service
Trying to treat the tens of thousands of horses maimed and ill-treated during the Great War must have been one of the most heart-rending tasks in the Army for anyone who had any respect for animals.
At the time of his death, he was attached to the 115th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. He probably died of disease. He was buried in Plot 5, Row H, Grave 9 in the Doiran Military Cemetery in Greece. Due to poor soil conditions the gravestones are placed flat.
Additional Information
His is a private inscription on it reading “He has wakened from the dream of life”.
