Pre War

Alfred was the son of James & Elizabeth Human of Knebworth. Hertfordshire. At the time he enlisted in the Army he was working as a servant for the Hussey family in Knightsbridge, London.

Wartime Service

He arrived in France on the 16th March 1915. On the 23rd December 1916 the 1st Battalion relieved the 4th Battalion in trenches near to Bouleaux Wood, Bronfay. Alfred was reported as Missing in Action and has no known grave. His name is recorded on the Thiepval Memorial, France. Medal Index Card lists his Service Number as 19147.
