Born in 1893. Lived in Ware, Herts. and at 37 Nelson Street, Heanor, Derbyshire.

Enlisted at Ilkeston, Derbyshire on 26th October 1914 aged 21 years.

Husband of Florence Hutchinson.

Wartime Service

Enlisted 26th October 1914, in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, aged 21 years, into the 5th Reserve Battalion of the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment. His connection to Thundridge and High Cross has not been established. He was stationed in the UK from the 26th October 1914 to 3rd March 1916. Embarked for France from Southampton on the 3rd March 1916. Disembarked Rouen, France, 4th March 1916. Joined Unit in the field 6th March 1916.

Wounded in action in the field 25th March 1916. Died of wounds in 30th Casualty Clearing Station, France on the 22nd April 1916.

Additional Information

He left a wife and two children. His widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence (18/6) a week for her and the two children.
