It is thought that he was in the 19th London Regiment, but we have yet to find evidence confirming this in the ‘Soldiers died’ or CWGC databases, nor has been possible to positively identify this man in any other regiment. Likewise it has not been possible to identify him in the Medal Rolls due to the frequency of the name.
One possibility is that Charles Henry is recorded as Harry Jackson, who was Private 91031 Harry Jackson who was born in Hitchin, enlisted in Louth and at the time that he was killed in action on the 22nd August 1917 in Belgium was serving with the 32nd Company, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). He had previously served as No. DM2/230838 in the Royal Army Service Corps.
He has no known grave and is remembered on Panels 154-159 & 163A of the Tyne Cot Memorial to the Missing near Ypres in Belgium.
