Pre War

Born in 1891 and baptised on 11 Jan 1891 in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire son of William Bastin and Elizabeth (Pettifer) Styles. He married Lucy Eleanor Whitney on 25 Apr 1914 in Watford and they lived at 20 Solesbridge Lane, Chorleywood. He had three children and was a gardener and general labourer.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Watford on 9 Dec 1915 formerly 35380 Private, Middlesex Regiment and was transferred to the Labour Corps on 18 May 1917 and served at home. He was admitted to the 1st Eastern General Hospital at Cambridge on 28 Oct 1918 with influenza and pneumonia and died there.
