Pre War
Henry was the eldest son of George Jupp and Mary Ann (daughter of T Gaylor). He was born in Brighton on 5th May 1875 and educated at Dorman's Land and before enlisting was a nursery gardener.
Husband of Alice Margaret (nee Seabrook) in Hoddesdon, later recorded at 40, Brunswick Crescent, New Southgate, London. They had four children, George (b 29 Oct 1899), twins Ralph and Ellat (b 29 Aug 1899) and Dora (b 24 Mar 1901).
Wartime Service
He enlisted on the 24th June 1916 (probably conscripted) and went overseas on 19th December 1916. He died from wounds received in No. 10 Casualty Clearing Station on 14th February 1917.
His Captain wrote: "He was on duty with a working party behind the firing lines, the same shell wounding a comrade. Nothing I know will console you in your hour of grief, but as his Company Officer, I might say that he was a good and well-liked soldier, and died nobly for his country."
Additional Information
Other that marrying in Hoddesdon his connection there has yet to be established and perhaps there is none.
