Pre War
James Linton Graham Kearton, born in 1889, to George James Malcolm Kearton and Harriet nee Wilkin.
His father was an East India Merchant and died abroad in Surinam, East Indies in 1902.
There is record of his enlistment in the United States Army 8th Infantry at Monterey, California in Oct 1909 and his discharge in Oct 1912. He variously described his occupation as Ranchhand and also Farmer.
Wartime Service
He returned to England for service in the London Regiment as Private 4430 before obtaining a commission with the Royal Sussex Regiment but later transferring to the Welsh Guards 26th Feb 1915.
He died as result of wounds received during an attack of the 1st December at Gouzeacourt.
