Pre War

Christened 2nd February 1899 and lived in Stanstead Abbotts. Mothers name Ada.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in Essex Regt as Private 4009. Transferred to Royal Fusiliers City of London Regt 11th Battalion. Unit went to France in July 1915. Fought at Somme from July 1916, at Montauban, Delville Wood, Thiepval Ridge, Ancre Heights. He was killed as the Battalion were leaving the trenches to go to billets in Albert, he was one of 51 casualties suffered whilst leaving the front line.
