Born on 17 Dec 1856 in Buriton Rectory, Petersfield, Hampshire son of the Rev. John Maunoir Sumner and Mary Le Couteur. Educated at Haileybury College 1869-74. He married Muriel Hughes (died 1909) and then Florence Harriett Tremayne of Morval, Sandplace, Cornwall.

Wartime Service

Commanded South Lancashire Regiment at Jubbalpore, Central Provinces, India. Died at home.
