Philip James Vaughan Lavarack was the youngest son of Hamlet and Fanny L Laverack


He was married in 1912 to Lilian G Gibson.


Wartime Service

He was a 2nd Lieutenant Royal Engineers before transferring to Royal Flying Corps which became in April 1918 Royal Air Force.


He died as the result of engine failure while flying a RE 8 aircraft on a practice flight. His Observer, 2nd Lt. RAH Brittain was also killed.


He was awarded the Military Cross and Bar.
