Pre War

Born on 7 Aug 1893 in Chislehurst, Kent son of Hugh and Alice Lawson of Camden Rise, Chislehurst, Kent. Educated at Haileybury College 1907- 12 and Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.

Wartime Service

Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 2 Sep 1914. After training at Aldershot, he entered France on 19 May 1915 and was wounded on 30 Jul 1915 for which he received the MC. After a period of light duty in England he returned to his battalion as Lieutenant on 5 Jun 1916 and was killed by shell fire while working with a digging party in front of the lines near Mametz Wood.

Additional Information

Brother of 2nd Lieutenant Cecil David Norton Lawson who was killed in action on 26 Sep 1915 and is also commemorated on this memorial.
